Ready Law earns Top 100 Jury Verdicts recognition
Ready Law is proud to share that trial attorney Vernon Ready’s $2.698 million jury verdict against Target Corporation was ranked one of the Top 100 Premises Liability Jury Verdicts in the United States for 2025 by Top Verdict. The list covers jury verdicts from every state and federal court in the country, and only the top 100 premises liability verdicts make the list.
This same verdict has earned Vern Ready and Ready Law other awards, including lifetime membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
What is Top Verdict?
Top Verdict publishes yearly rankings of the largest case results won by attorneys for their clients across the United States. It sorts results by practice area, location, type of case, and year.
The Top 100 Premises Liability Verdicts list includes only cases that were tried to a verdict before a state or federal jury. Settlements don’t count toward this list. Every result on the list came from a jury hearing the evidence and deciding what an injured person’s loss was worth.
Why a premises liability verdict matters
Most personal injury cases settle, and that makes sense for many cases and clients. A jury verdict is different because it means the case went all the way to trial. Many clients, on the path to trial, have had to turn down settlement offers that do not give them full and fair compensation. The lawyer had to prepare the case, present it to a jury, tell the client’s story, and convince that jury of both the liability of the injury and the size of the client’s loss. Jury trials involve months of preparation, thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of pages of evidence, countless motions, hours of testimony, and days of trial.
Ranking among the top premises liability verdicts in the nation, from a small, family-run firm in Centennial, shows that Ready Law can go toe to toe with a major corporation and win.
The case behind the ranking
The verdict that earned this achievement came in Plaintiff v. Target Corporation, a premises liability case tried in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado in November 2025.
Our client was seriously injured in a fall at a Target store and needed multiple surgeries. Despite the best efforts of her doctors, she was left with permanent nerve damage and chronic pain in her wrist and hand.
Target denied responsibility the entire time. Its best offer before trial was $500,000. That offer came after Target called us “disingenuous” for saying her injury was worth more than $1 million.
Vern Ready didn’t accept less than the full value of our client’s loss, so he took the case to trial. The federal jury returned a verdict of $2.698 million.
What it means for Ready Law clients
For the people we represent, this ranking sends a simple message. When an insurance company or a large corporation refuses to do right by an injured person, Vern has the experience and the results to take the case to a jury and win.
Insurance companies weigh risk when they evaluate a claim, and part of that is the reputation of the injured person’s lawyer. This ranking joins Vern’s lifetime membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and his National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 distinction. Together, they reflect top-tier trial work for injured people in Colorado.
